  3. Funny that we’ve I’ve lived here in the Midwest for 13 years and my wife for 5 years and we still haven’t been to an apple orchard. Maybe we’ll do that this year! Thanks Michelle! You are a southern girl at heart, and I am a southern boy misplaced in the Midwest! Ha ;-)))

    1. Ha! Just get on out there and pick those apples! πŸ˜€ Thank you so much for reading!

  4. Great post Michelle. Apple picking sounds fun.

  6. For some reason, I can’t seem to “like” anything, but I do. πŸ™‚ We usually take an entire Saturday afternoon to change our closet seasons. It’s so fun to see our sweater “friends” again!

    1. I love changing my closet over to fall/winter clothes. I don’t have a lot of summer clothes so I can’t wait to pull out the sweaters and sweatshirts. πŸ˜€ (WP has been giving me a lot of issues lately. I have to refresh the page of almost every blog I visit because it says I’m not following until I refresh the page. Weird.)

  7. Having a bonfire with s’mores has got my personal vote for β€œyes”! πŸ˜‰

    1. Right? It doesn’t get any better than that! πŸ˜€

  8. Another great post with lots of family fun. I love the fall too, what fun.

  11. This is such a great list! I usually visit a pumpkin patch and I’d love to see a corn maze at some point.

Honestly, I’m really looking forward to seeing some haunted houses!

    1. Thank you! I haven’t been to a haunted house in years. I would really like to go on a ghost hunt to a real haunted house. πŸ˜€

  12. Some of these are frugal in our area but some are pretty expensive. Apple picking is somewhat expensive because of how much they cause by the basket. Going to pumpkin farms cost us some $100 between rides and pumpkins and snacks and…you get the idea. Still, some really great ideas on this list for my favorite season.

    1. I get it. We always go to the same farm every year because they are the least expensive and we get a free pumpkin at the end. We avoid the snacks (although I’m always wanting a grilled hot dog!!) and grab lunch at a nearby restaurant. Hopefully you can find something not so expensive nearby. Or start your own and charge people to come over! πŸ˜€

  13. Yes!. Lots of fun things to do. Loving them! πŸ’―

    1. Thank you so much!! πŸ™‚

      1. You are welcome ma’am. ❀

    1. Thank you so much!! πŸ˜€

      1. You’re welcome! 😊

  15. Great ideas, but I love summer so hoping for a few more summer days first.

    1. Thank you! Summer is sticking around for us, especially this week. It’s supposed to be really hot so it feels weird to be writing about fall. πŸ˜€

  16. Brilliant ideas! All the apple ones sound great! Jumping in leaves 🍁 great fun! πŸ˜ƒ

    1. Thank you so much!! πŸ˜€

  17. Terrie

What a great post Michelle. I love all the activities you shared with us. I want my family to do some of these things this Fall. Thanks for sharing. Happy Fall season!

    1. Thank you so much! I hope you all get to do some of these this year. πŸ˜€

  18. My fall bucket list includes apple picking and making homemade apple pie, pumpkin picking, a hayride and a bon fire with friends. I love all your fall bucket list ideas.

    1. That’s a great list! I bet your apple pies are delicious! Thank you so much! πŸ™‚

  19. Making a large pile of leaves and jumping in it sounds so fun and freeing. I love the changes in seasons. It allows for the openness to change. Thanks for sharing these!

    1. I agree! It would get so boring if there were no seasons and times for new changes. Thank you for reading!

  20. Oh the joy in my heart! I can not even begin to tell you how happy I am, just like you, that Fall temperatures are finally trying to arrive! THANK YOU LORD! That whole summer season sadness thing hit me hard. It was just so terribly hot & humid – I felt like I needed to crawl away in a hole somewhere and hibernate until cooler weather. πŸ˜‚ You too?

I love these ideas and I love the photos. They warmed my heart just seeing some of the fun activities you and your family have done. To me, one of the most relaxing activities is a cool, crisp night with a bonfire going. Hearing the faint crackle of the fire, feeling the warmth..ahhh. I feel more relaxed right now just thinking about it! C’mon over, we’ll fire it up!

I love that you are reminding people they don’t have to break the bank just to have fun. That is such a misconception people have. More often than not, the simpler things are the most fun. And you’re not stressing about how much you’ve spent to do it which makes it all the more fun in my book! Brilliant post Michelle. You have a way with words and ideas that no one else can match πŸ™‚

    1. I agree! I was so disappointed when we had a few cool days and then the heat and humidity returned. Ugh!!

What is it about a crackling fire that is so relaxing? I love that sound along with the smell and the warmth. Sounds like a plan! I’ll be right there! πŸ˜€

Thank you so much! You are so sweet. πŸ˜€ I always feel like if I can find things to do that are free or cheap, then I can do more things! πŸ˜€

      1. I know! I feel the same way. Today here has been terribly hot and humid. I try to put on a happy face, but God knows I’m anything but happy with this weather πŸ˜€ Oh well. Trying counts, right? lol

I have often wondered what it is about a crackling fire too that is so mesmerizing. I feel the same way about chilly nights and a soft blanket. There is just a magical quality about certain combinations. All of them with a theme of cooler weather of course!

And we are in total agreement about feeling freer to do more things if you’ve been able to do everything else reasonably priced. Bill and I are such homebodies but it’s nice to do activities that bring couples and/or families closer together. Heaven knows we need that!
