2-in-1 pumpkin decor pin

On a recent visit to Dollar Tree I saw this cute little wood pumpkin that was 2 sided. It had a slot in the middle to add a candle or flowers or whatever you wanted. I bought it not knowing at the time what I wanted to do with it, but I just had to have it. You know me: I love decorating on a budget.

Two days later while I was watching an old Roseanne episode it finally hit me what I wanted to do with it! Since there were 2 sides I wanted to be able to flip it around and get 2 uses out of it. That way I could change up my decor without adding too much stuff.

Let me show you how I made this 2-in-1 pumpkin decor Dollar Tree DIY for fall!

What you need:

What you do:

Step 1: Paint one side of the pumpkin

I painted the base of the 2-in-1 pumpkin decor with white paint, then I painted one of the pumpkins orange. I used craft paint for both of these.

Step 2: Add jute to the pumpkin stem

Using a little dab of hot glue, glue the jute string to the inside of the pumpkin stem.

How to wrap the jute string

Wrap the jute string around the entire stem and add another dab of hot glue to glue it in place. It leaves a lot of little strands sticking out, but you can easily trim those off with scissors.

Step 3: Add a candle

Add a battery operated tealight candle to the middle of the 2-in-1 pumpkin decor.

Put an LED t-light candle in the middle

Here is my 2-in-1 pumpkin decor all lit up with the candle inside. I love how the light shows through the little slits in the pumpkin. The battery operated candle that I got also flickers so it looks like a real candle.

Step 4 – Add fabric

Now on to the other pumpkin on the other side of the 2-in-1 pumpkin decor. For this side I used Mod Podge to put on the buffalo check fabric. I just laid the pumpkin down on the fabric and traced around it, then cut it out.

Step 5: Add the wood pumpkins

The wood pumpkins on this side are leftover from another project. These are actually stickers and they have sticker dots on the back of them. However, they do not seem to stick too well to the Mod Podge, so I removed the sticker dots and hot glued the pumpkins on.

Step 6: Add flowers

For this side of the 2-in-one pumpkin decor, I added mini mums that I purchased at Dollar Tree. I thought they were so cute and perfect for smaller fall projects.

Step 7: Decorate with your 2-in-1 pumpkin decor

Decorating for me is so much fun, but I love making the crafts even more. The best part about this decor piece is that it is 2-in-1 so you can just turn it around for a new look!
