Before Christmas Deals

Kitchen Items: Kitchen items are marked way down in December which is perfect if you plan to do a lot of baking. Or if you have someone on your list who needs a new mixer.

Check JC Penney for deals on small kitchen appliances, bakeware, and dinnerware. If you’re looking for deals on kitchen food storage, Kohl’s has lots of items on sale. And if you’re looking for kitchen utensils, Amazon has many different types including unique ones on sale.

Tools: Black Friday usually has great deals on tools, but December is a great time to find screwdriver, wrench, and drill sets.

Home Depot and Lowe’s have select tools up to 40% off, while Sears has toolsets up to 50% off.

Toys: Early to mid-December is the best time to get amazing deals on toys. Toy prices go back up closer to Christmas.

Target has toy deals up to 50% as well as buy 2, get 1 free deals and Belk has toy deals up to 70% off.

Gift cards: A lot of retail stores and restaurants offer free or discounted gift cards to customers who are already purchasing a gift card of a certain amount. This is a great time to grab a card for yourself or to give as a gift.

Amazon usually takes up to 20% off the face value of certain gift cards (Panera, Domino’s, Petco, Build-a-Bear Workshop).

After Christmas Deals

Holiday Décor: The week following Christmas offers the best deals on Christmas décor, with some stores offering up to 75% off. This is a great time to stock up on wrapping supplies, lights, tabletop décor, and much more for next year.

Deals All Month Long

A House: A lot of sellers take their listings off the market for the holidays. So if you’re looking for a new home, try buying this month. You might just be able to negotiate for a way better deal.

Vehicles: Speaking of negotiating, December is also a great month to negotiate a deal on a vehicle. Dealerships are slashing prices with New Year’s Eve being the best day to grab an excellent deal.

In-seasonal Produce:

  • Fruits: grapefruit clementines, oranges, mandarins, pears, kiwi, lemons, limes, and tangerines.

  1. Great tips! Blessings Michelle!

    1. Thank you so much!

  2. A great list for the last few things we need! I’m hoping for some after-Christmas chocolate 🙂 We also just re-financed our house, even though we didn’t need to buy, because it cut our interest rate in half. It’s a great market for buyers right now.

    1. That’s a great idea to refinance right now! I agree with you on the after-Christmas chocolate. I always look forward to that! 😀

  3. I used to encourage our family to celebrate Christmas January 25 instead of December 25. The reasoning was that Thanksgiving and New Year’s wouldn’t be upstaged, we’d have more time and better deals for Christmas shopping, and after Christmas there would be a shorter time of enduring the cold weather before spring. (It didn’t catch on.)

    1. That makes a lot of sense, especially when you’re on a budget. 🙂

  4. After I’m finished for Christmas (November usually), I try not to buy anything until the after Christmas sales, especially if I get given any vouchers etc. You do get some amazing deals after Christmas though x

    1. I try to do the same thing. Except for buying groceries I don’t even go out so I’m not tempted. 😀 There are some great deals after Christmas!

  5. What a great list! After Christmas deals are my favorite… I love stocking up on clearance items and then stashing them away until the next year!

    1. Thank you! I love stocking up on Christmas clearance items, too. Most of the time I forget what I bought so it’s exciting to find the treasures the next year.

    2. The best part is that we forget what we bought and that becomes a surprise.

  7. Great compilation Michelle! I’m in the midst of my online Christmas shopping now, and I’m going to try my hardest to just totally refrain afterwards unless it’s a necessity. But sometimes I use the word “necessity” loosely 😄.

    1. Thank you! Haha! I know the feeling! 😀
