“Welcome Fall” Pumpkin Sign

Turn a Dollar Tree fall wall hanging into a “Welcome Fall” pumpkin sign in just a few easy steps!

Can you believe that it’s less than a month until fall arrives? I’m so excited! It’s my favorite season with Spring a close second.

While it doesn’t exactly feel like fall here in Virginia yet I’m still making some fun fall crafts. For some reason, fall is my favorite season to decorate for.

Do you have a favorite season that you love to decorate for?

What you need:

  • Pumpkin-shaped sign
  • White craft paint
  • Metal words
  • Poster Stickers
  • Fall flowers
  • Fall leaves
  • Hot glue
  • Ribbon

*Note: All of these materials came from Dollar Tree, but they are things I already had on hand.

What you do:

A few years ago, I bought this cute cardboard fall wall hanging from Dollar Tree. There was an outside piece that was brown with glitter flecks in it that surrounded the center part. It was separate so it just floated by itself.

I removed the outside piece because I wasn’t really into all the glittery stuff.

The first thing I did was turn the sign over and paint the back with a coat of white craft paint.

Can you see how it’s kind of bent in the middle? That’s from being taken in and out of my fall tote for years.

To add the “Welcome Fall” words to my pumpkin sign, I used poster stickers from Dollar Tree and the metal words “Welcome”, also from Dollar Tree. I also used some leaves and flowers that I picked up at Dollar Tree.

First I laid everything out to see how it would fit and to make sure I had it the way I wanted before I glued it down.

After I had everything in place the way I wanted, I glued the “welcome” words down with hot glue and just rubbed over the stickers so they would stick.

Next, I added a few flowers and leaves to the outside edge of the “Welcome Fall” pumpkin sign.

For the last step, I added a piece of brown ribbon to hang up the sign with.

Then I hung up my new “Welcome Fall” pumpkin sign and started off with my fall decorations!

  • Oh yeah... Summer is going! I love her so much but it's life, and you are well motivating for a good feeling. Thank you, dearest Michelle ???

  • Oh my goodness. First of all, I love that we are getting into Fall! I can't believe it's here already. And I love pumpkin anything. So thank you for this. You have brightened my day! :)

  • This is so cute Michelle! You always have some fabulous ideas to share. Thanks for helping me be the creative person I want to be!

  • You know I love Fall too! And I especially love what you've done with this sign. Wow, what a difference!

I love how you laid out each of the pieces and added those beautiful pops of fall color. That's one of the reasons I love Fall decorations so much - the oranges, reds, and deep warm tones. Beautiful! Just the colors alone speak of warmth and comfort, don't they?

You've done it again, Michelle. This is an amazing DIY that almost anyone can do, thanks to you. ❤ Love it!

    • Thank you so much! There's just something about fall that makes everything just seem better for some reason.
I agree with you about the fall colors. I wish the natural colors would last a lot longer than they do. But at least we can use them as decorations inside. :)
You're so very sweet! Thank you!

  • HI Michelle! Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment on our Cinnamon Pumpkin muffins post! And I love your blog! Great tips for DIYS and look forward to seeing more posts from you!
