Best Things to Buy in July

Here’s an extensive list of the best things to buy in July to help you keep money in your pocket all year! This is the only shopping list you’ll need this month!

My mom and dad and I went on a little shopping trip the other day and ended up at Hobby Lobby. I was in awe of all the fall stuff that was already out! Summer just started and already the aisles were filled with orange, gold, and red.

Needless to say I did not want to leave. I wanted to buy all the fall things and forget about summer.

Some of these items were on sale, but not at their best sale prices yet. So I guess we’ll stick with the summer deals and look for the best things to buy in July.

My best tip for online shopping: Use Rakuten while you’re shopping online to get cashback and save even more!!

Summer apparel: Since most stores started putting out their summer apparel in April and May, early July is when they start pushing for it to go so they can start making room for fall. Be sure to keep an eye out for swimsuits, sandals, and shorts. Back-to-school clothing will be hitting the shelves soon.

Tip: August and September are also great times to buy summer apparel, but most of it is already picked over, so buy early.

Tools and paint: Any tools that didn’t sell for Father’s Day will be discounted. Perfect timing for the DIY’ers taking full advantage of the longer days. Keep an eye out at Home Depot and Lowe’s for paint deals soon. Not many people want to paint during the heat of summer, so stores push paint deals during this time.

Grills: Starting around mid-July stores start putting grills on sale to get them out of the way and make room for new seasonal products. Sears is having a great deal on grills right now.

Air conditioners: Air conditioner prices start dropping about mid-July even though there is still plenty of hot weather ahead. Check out Target’s amazing air conditioner deals here if you are in need of one.

Computers: Even though we have no idea what back-to-school is going to look like this year, stores usually have amazing deals on computers in late July. Laptops, desktops, and tablet prices make a huge drop during this time. Keep an eye out at Best Buy, Office Depot, and Staples.

Furniture: Small waves of new furniture models start hitting the stores in August, so older models will have major discounts this month. Check Schewel’s, Ashley Homestore, and Wayfair for the best deals on furniture.

Jewelry: Summer isn’t exactly the time of year everyone is rushing out to buy jewelry. Some stores push sales in order to make money between the two major holidays – Valentine’s Day and Christmas. Shop J C Penney, Macy’s, and Kay for the best deals.

Ice cream: July is national ice cream month and July 19 is National Ice Cream Day! Scoop up some great savings with coupons and sales at grocery stores all month long. Look for deals and freebies at local ice cream shops, as well as major chains such as Baskin-Robbins on July 19. I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!

Hot dogs: July is also National Hot Dog Month so look for coupons and sales on hot dogs while you’re shopping for ice cream. Sonic and 7-Eleven usually have free or discounted hot dogs on July 23 – National Hot Dog Day.

In-Season Produce: This is a prime growing month for fresh fruits and vegetables. Look for these fresh fruits this month: blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, peaches, canteloupe, watermelon, kiwi, plum, and apricots. Fresh vegetables to buy this month include: green beans, corn, cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuce, and summer squash.

There are a lot of great deals and discounts going on this month! These are the best things to buy in July to help you save money for the rest of the year.

  • Oh how I miss Hobby Lobby! Haven't been since this all started! UGH! I hope soon! Great list as usual, Michelle! I'm checking out tools for my hubby's b-day as we speak! Thanks for the tip!

    • That was my first day out since everything started and I'm glad it was to Hobby Lobby! haha! I hope you get to go soon. Happy early birthday to your hubby! :)
      Thank you for reading!

  • Thanks for this great list, thanks for the reminder about the summer sale for apparel, I really need a few new blouses. I'll tell my kids about the ice cream and hot dogs, I didn't know this. And i really miss Hobby Lobby :( can't wait to go to the store again. I've been buying the candles I like but online, and I am getting them at 50% off just like in the store, but I like to browse around in the store. Have a wonderful 4th of July xoxo

    • I know what you mean about browsing around the store. This was the first time I've been out since March and it was so nice. I would much rather shop in the store than online. I was amazed to see how many big stores had already closed while we were out. I hope more stay open because I really don't like shopping online.
Thank you! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

  • Thank you for this useful list! I haven't been doing much shopping lately because of the lockdown, but when I hit the shops I will know what to go for!

    • I know exactly what you mean. My shopping has all been online lately. I can't wait to be able to shop inside a store without fear. :)
