Follow these easy instructions to make your own shabby chic lamp!

Spring is trying to visit us this week and leaving us with warmer temperatures. Even though it has been a little cloudy, at least it hasn’t been raining for once! I think all that’s supposed to change by the weekend, though.

Since I’m patiently waiting for Spring to fully arrive and stay, I thought I would make some Spring decor. I love the shabby chic look because it reminds me of Spring! I think some of the shabby chic decor is so cute, even if it’s not really the style any more. Farmhouse style has taken over everything. Don’t get me wrong, I still love everything farmhouse, but I think it helps to mix it up and put some of your own style in there as well.

I love lamps, but they can be so expensive, so I decided to make my own shabby chic lamp. Technically I guess this isn’t really a lamp, but more of a candle holder. There’s no bulb, just a tea light candle, but it has the shabby chic lamp look and it’s just too cute!

What you need:

• Table Leg like this one
• Corner Block Moulding Accent (I used this one from Lowe’s)
• Spray paint (optional)
• Wire Basket (I got mine at Dollar Tree)
• Glass candle holder (Mine came from Dollar Tree)
• Battery Powered Tea Light Candle
• Fabric
• E6000 Adhesive

What you do:

Step 1:

For the base of the shabby chic lamp:

Paint the table leg and corner block if you want it a different color. I painted mine a light grey color. Lay them aside and let them dry for a few hours.

Step 2:

Cut the fabric into strips. Mine were 9″ long and about 1″ wide. You can make it the length and width you want. I used 27 strips of fabric, but you may need more or less. You’ll see why in a minute.

Step 3

For the “lamp shade” part of the shabby chic lamp:

Tie the fabric around the top of the wire basket in every other hole. Your basket may have more or less holes than mine or you may want to put your fabric in every hole around. It’s totally up to you and how you want your “lamp shade” to look.

Step 4

After the paint dries to the base part, glue the table leg to the corner block with the E6000. If you need it to dry really fast, you can also add some hot glue. I didn’t do this because I wasn’t in a hurry for mine to dry.

Step 5

Using the E6000 Adhesive, glue the glass candle holder to the top of the table leg.

Step 6

Put your tealight in your candle holder and place the basket upside down over the candle holder. Put your new shabby chic lamp anywhere you want!
