Did you forget about Valentine’s Day?

Or did you just run out of time to plan for a memorable big day?

Well, I’ve got a great list of last-minute frugal Valentine’s Day ideas to get you out of the doghouse!

Can you believe that Valentine’s Day is already here? I personally have never liked this holiday. I’m not a fan of red or roses, although I do love chocolate!

I’m also not a very romantic person. Give me a quiet night in with no chores and I’m a happy gal.

However, if you are looking for a memorable Valentine’s Day, then I have a great list of Valentine’s Day ideas for you. These are great if you are on a budget and trying to save money!

Last-Minute Frugal Valentine’s Day Ideas

These frugal Valentine’s Day ideas are more for couples, however I’m sure you could do some of these by yourself if you’re single. Or grab your single BFF and enjoy the day just hanging out!

Go on a hike

Spending time together as a couple out in nature will bring you closer together. It’s quiet and relaxing and you have plenty of time to soak in all of God’s amazing creation. Look for souvenirs you can bring home to remember your special time together, like heart-shaped rocks or leaves. If the weather is nice, then get outside and go on a hike together.

Write each other a love letter

Remember the days of letter writing in high school? Letters don’t have to end with graduation. My husband still writes me little notes once in a while and folds them in all of his crazy ways, just like he did when we were in high school. Take the time to sit down and write a letter to your loved one, even if it’s just a list of all the things you love about them.

Re-read old love letters

If you have saved love letters from your honey over the years, pull them out and read them together. This is great for bringing back memories of how much you loved each other and wanted to spend every second together. Make it even more memorable by playing music that you listened to during the year you met.

Stay in for dinner at home

Don’t worry about fighting the crowded restaurants and expensive meals on Valentine’s Day. Stay in and fix a nice dinner at home with your favorite dessert. Light some candles, tell Alexa to play romantic music, and have a nice quiet dinner alone.

Play tourist in your own town

Chances are there are places in your town or close by that you haven’t seen yet. Take the weekend and explore the places you haven’t seen yet. Spend time at a museum or look for shows playing nearby. Just get out and enjoy it!

Handmake something special

Handmade gifts are the best because of their sentimental value. A lot of thought and time goes into something handmade, making it more special than a storebought gift. Even if it’s just a sweet card, it’s the thought that counts.

Give your time to someone else

Spend time together focusing on others and not on yourselves this Valentine’s Day. Volunteer at a local homeless shelter, soup kitchen, or animal shelter. Helping others has many great benefits for our mental health, and doing it together as a couple can bring you closer together.

Give each other a massage

Light up some scented candles, turn on some relaxing music, and grab the massage oils and give each other a massage. It doesn’t have to be a full body massage, just focus on the area that needs it the most, such as the neck and shoulders.

Have a picnic

It may be too cold outside to have an outdoor picnic, but who says you can’t have one indoors? Pack a fun lunch in a picnic basket and spread out a blanket on the floor. If you have a sunroom or covered porch, have your picnic there. This is one of my favorite frugal Valentine’s Day ideas!

Discover your love languages

Relationships take commitment and if you’re not on the same page keeping your love alive can be challenging. Take some time to learn each other’s love languages and reflect on what you’ve learned. Here’s a fun couples quiz to get you started.

Create a personalized coupon book

Remember those days in elementary school when you made your mom a coupon book? And she could tear off a coupon good for “one free hug”? Why not do the same for your significant other? Create a coupon book using whatever paper you have available. Add coupons for simple things such as spending 30 minutes talking about your dreams or for a day to sleep in.

Make a mix tape

Remember mix tapes from back in the day? How fun was that? Capture all of your songs on a tape or CD for a fun frugal Valentine’s Day gift idea. If you haven’t been a couple long enough to have a bunch of songs, then just make a playlist of romantic songs.

Watch an old movie

After your fabulous dinner for two or a fun little picnic, curl up on the couch with some popcorn and a cozy blanket. Find a romantic comedy on Hulu and enjoy laughing together.

Frame your memories

Find photos of your favorite memories together and put them in frames for display. You can always pick up some photo frames at Dollar Tree for just a dollar each. If you have too many memories to frame, spend some time just going through the photos and reminiscing about that day.

Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to cost a lot to be a romantic and memorable day. This list of frugal Valentine’s Day ideas proves just that. I hope you’ve found something helpful here!
