Best Things to Buy in February

Snack Foods: During the first week of February, snack foods such as chips, dip, sodas, and chicken wings go on sale.

Televisions: Televisions usually start going on sale right before the Big Game and the sales spill over into February.

Perfume & Cologne: one of the best things to buy in February is a perfume and cologne since it’s usually a go-to gift for Valentine’s Day. Some department stores even offer a free gift with purchase, so keep your eyes peeled!

Tax prep software: Tax prep companies start sharing their deals this month so be on the lookout for coupon codes if you prefer someone else to do your taxes. We save money by doing our own.

Canned food: Did you know that February is National Canned Food Month? This is a great month to restock your pantry with staples or even refresh your disaster supply kit. Grab a few extra cans while they’re on sale for donations to food pantries.

Flowers: The price of roses skyrocket this month around Valentine’s Day. Avoid the traditional gift and grab other types of flowers instead. If you choose to deliver flowers, look for early delivery discounts or free chocolate incentives.

Lingerie: Department stores start their sales on lingerie this month. Look for coupons to stack with the sale to help you save even more.

Valentine’s Day clearance: Stock up on treats after the big day to get a great discount on these items, especially at Target and Walmart. Also look for gifts for next year during your clearance shopping spree.

Winter products: Retailers are already releasing spring arrivals, so they’re clearing their shelves of winter products such as clothing and sporting equipment.

Mattresses: If you are in need of a new mattress, February is an excellent month to shop for these. Presidents Day weekend offers major sales on mattresses.

Linens: While January’s “white sales” are usually the best time to get great discounts on linens, Presidents Day sales also mean great deals on bedding, towels, and other linens. Check department stores such as JC Penney, Belk, and Bed Bath & Beyond.

Furniture and small kitchen appliances: Once again, Presidents Day has retailers putting these home goods on sale. Since furniture manufacturers release new designs every spring, you can find great deals on last year’s models during this month.

In-season produce: Here’s what to look for in February when it comes to produce: pears, potatoes, turnips, asparagus, carrots, celery, grapefruit, kale, oranges, broccoli, and cauliflower.

Humidifiers: Sales on humidifiers take place this month. These are great for those dry winter days!

Cellphones: If you need a replacement cellphone, February is a great month to get a new one. Some wireless carriers and manufacturers are offering buy-one-get-one deals on phones this month.

With holidays such as Valentine’s Day and Presidents Day, retailers will be offering great discounts on lots of items. If you plan to do some shopping this month, watch for the Presidents Day sales and discounts after Valentine’s Day.
