Even though I love Thanksgiving, I rarely decorate for the holiday. After Halloween, I usually put my fall decorations back up and leave them until the day after Thanksgiving. That’s the day reserved for Black Friday shopping and Christmas decorating.

This year, however, I’ve been wanting to add more Thanksgiving decor to my home. I’ve seen some pretty Thanksgiving decor while stalking Pinterest and that got me motivated. And when I was challenged to create a Thanksgiving vignette with a glass jar DIY I knew I had to jump on board.

I’ve teamed up with some great DIY bloggers this month for a November DIY Challenge. We are to create a Thanksgiving vignette and our DIY is a glass jar or vase. I actually have two DIY’s to show you for this Thanksgiving vignette challenge!

What is a vignette?

In decorating, a vignette refers to a grouping of objects that create a focal point. This can be an easy and affordable way to add some pretty decor to a space in your home. For example, grouping your objects on a tray keeps them all together in one place. If you need to use the space that your vignette is taking up, then it can easily be removed since everything is together on the tray. Of course you don’t have to limit your items to a tray.

Glass jar challenge – Hurricane candle holder

For the glass jar part of the challenge, I chose to use the hurricane candle holder.

What you need:

What you do:

Paint the glass taper candle holder with the spray paint and let dry. After it’s dry, glue the hurricane vase to the candle holder with E6000 glue.

Wrap the jute string around the top of the glass candle holder and glue in place. Add a small flower and glue in place with hot glue.

Add jute string and a flower

I added some moss and a candle to my candle holder. That’s it! It cost less than $5 to make because I already had the paint, glue, flower, and jute string.

Now for the second DIY for my Thanksgiving vignette. This is another Dollar Tree DIY and once again cost under $5!

That’s it! Now to add it to my Thanksgiving vignette.

I found the pitcher at a thrift store a few years ago for $3. The 2 pumpkins and the candle came from Dollar Tree.

I found the 2 tall wooden candle sticks in the back of the vignette at a church sale last month. There were 4 in a bag for $2. The “thankful and blessed” pumpkin also came from Dollar Tree. The sunflowers were from Walmart.

Lit up with candles

The 2 signs hanging in the background were also from Dollar Tree.

This was such a fun challenge for November. I loved putting together this Thanksgiving vignette! I’m very happy with the way this turned out. It was very inexpensive and so easy to put together.
