What to Buy in October
Believe it or not, jeans are a great item to buy in October. They have been on store shelves since the back-to-school sales and now they are being discounted so stores can get rid of them.
Old Navy has their jeans priced at 50% off right now, saving you a lot of money. Hollister and Target have their jeans buy one get one for 50% off. Almost every store I have searched has jeans on sale this month.
Just because summer has come to an end doesn’t mean you have to stop enjoying being outside. October is the best month to get great deals for outdoor furniture. Walmart has its patio furniture on sale for 40% off and you can find great deals on grills at Lowe’s.
Warm Weather Clothing
Most stores have some warm weather clothing, such as t-shirts and shorts, still on their shelves. These items need to go so that cold-weather clothing can take their place. Therefore, the warm weather clothing is placed on clearance racks and in online clearance sections.
Be sure to price check Walmart’s prices. I found a table of shirts that were on clearance for $3, however, when I got to the register it rang up for only $1! I wish I would have bought more, but I wasn’t about to hit cancel and get out of line.
Last-Minute Fall and Halloween Decor
A few days before Halloween most stores dramatically lower their prices on fall and Halloween decor. They want to get those items off the shelves so they can put out the entire stock of Christmas items. Outdoor fall decor starts getting discounted, too.
Another place to search for discounted fall and Halloween decor is craft stores, such as Micheal’s, because they start discounting their fall and Halloween crafts as well as decor. (Plus Michael’s always has great coupons!)
Shop Columbus Day Sales
Here in the US, Columbus Day is October 14 and most stores, as well as car lots, have huge weekend sales. Expect major sales on shoes, apparel, as well as home and garden.
Columbus Day sales weekend is also great if you’re looking for a new car. Dealerships are ready to get the new year’s inventory in the lot so last year’s inventory gets a major markdown. Car buying tip: buy at the end of the month or at the end of the day when the salespeople are desperate to hit their quotas.
Remember that resolution you made at the beginning of the year to eat healthy? Keep that going by buying healthier fruits and vegetables that are in-season during fall. In-season produce to look for in October is pumpkins, apples, lettuce, spinach, and mushrooms.
