I have been trying my best to get my home cleaned and organized. (No I’m not watching Marie Kondo.) While doing so, I noticed that my drawers could use a little freshening up themselves. I mean, I put my clothes in them, so why shouldn’t they smell fresh? That’s when I decided to make some lavender scented drawer sachets.

Lavender is one of the most popular scents for cleaning. And no wonder! It has calming and sedative properties that help you relax, fight stress, calm anxiety, and even help you get better sleep. Lavender can also be used for headaches, nausea, for your hair, for your skin, and so on. There are so many uses for lavender, which is why it is one of the most versatile oils. I even use lavender essential oil in my DIY Psoriasis Balm

With that being said, let’s move along to today’s DIY – a lavender-scented drawer sachet that involves no sewing!

Lavender Scented No Sew Drawer Sachet Instructions

What you need:

Why use Epsom Salts?

The purpose of the Epsom Salts is to soak up the essential oil that you are using. This works to help the scent of the oil last longer.

What you do:

Step 1:

Making sure the patterned side of the fabric is facing you, fold the 6×12 inch piece of fabric in half to make a 6×6 inch square. Cut the hem tape for two sides and lay the hem tape along the edges of the patterned side of the fabric.

Step 2:

Iron each side down for about 30 seconds. Allow 30 seconds for drying and cooling. Turn fabric right side out, so the pattern is now facing you.

Step 3:

In a bowl, mix Epsom salt, rice, and essential oil.

The photo below shows Balm Mint Bush essential oil. I completely forgot to take a picture of this step with the lavender oil.

Balm Mint Bush is also amazing because it smells minty mixed with eucalyptus. It really opens up the nasal cavity and supports a healthy respiratory system. It can be used in recipes for acne-prone skin as well as a natural household surface cleaner.

Step 4:

Fill the sachet with the mixture. (I used all of the mixture in 1 sachet)

Step 5:

Fold the top edges in and line with hem tape to close up the sachet. Repeat step 3.

Tip: After making one, I found it much easier to fold the edges and iron them down after I ironed the sides together and had turned the fabric right side out.

Step 6:

Place in a drawer for a nice refreshing aroma!

The lavender scented sachet doesn’t have to be confined to a drawer. It can be placed anywhere that needs freshening up, such as a linen closet, a vehicle, or even a gym bag. You can also lay it on your pillow beside you at night to get a relaxing and peaceful sleep.

  • Michelle, I love those Sachet and how easy you have made them to prepare. They are normally expensive on the stores on at the mall. I would love to try this project. So awesome. You are very talented. I love the new look of your site as well.

  • This is a wonderful DIY idea,I love the fresh scent of lavander! My mum used to put scented soap bars in closets but after a while the scent disappeared :(
I'm going to try these sachet soon.. I've bought one last week but it has an "artificial" oil, not pure essential oil and just gives me headache.

    Thanks for sharing this :)

    • I've never heard of putting soap bars in closets, but I'm sure it smelled really good! :) One of the places I get my oils that I love for cheap is Plant Therapy, but you can find pure oils in other places. I hope you find one that suits you!

      Thank you for reading! :)

  • Lovely idea, Michelle. I adore lavender and have a big bush growing in my garden. I use lavender oil all the time too!

    • Thank you! I use lavender and lemon oils more than any other. They are my favorites! :D When we finally get to move I hope to be able to have space for a lavender bush.

  • LOVE this idea, Michelle :) Lavender is incredible. There's actually a business in Meadows of Dan (you might be familiar with it) that has all sorts of goodies made with lavender. Their soaps and moisturizers are the only things I use. Amazing results.

We also use it here as a spray on the bed linens at night to help promote relaxation (much needed). Needless to say, this is a brilliant idea for the drawers that can get smelling stale over time. Glad you shared this! ♥

    • I haven't been up there in years! I love it up there, though. I need to go find that store. ?

I need to try the lavender spray at night. That's a great idea! Thank you for sharing that. ❤️

      • It's called High Country Lavender. :) We order all of our goodies online from there (very quaint shop inside - very cozy) and have loved everything we've gotten. You'd really enjoy it I think. Meadows of Dan in general is where I call home. Something very special about that place!

You'd definitely love misting pillows and linens with the lavender spray. I was kind of surprised just how much of a difference it did make. Works well for tension headaches too! ;) Praying your day is loaded with love & joy ♥

        • Thank you! My mom and I are headed to Floyd this weekend. Maybe we can go to Meadows of Dan, too. I'd love to go to that store.

Thank you so much! I hope you have a wonderfully blessed day! ❤️
