Create a frame for your wreath to go on using an old thrift store picture frame! Wreaths don’t have to be limited to hanging on doors. Check out this cute farmhouse wreath frame DIY and hang your wreath inside your home!

A few weekends ago my mom and I went to a rummage sale and I picked up this hand drawn work of art. I only wanted the frame and since it was only $3 I couldn’t pass it up! It is made out of real wood and the rustic look just really caught my eye.

There was a handwritten note on the back of the picture written to the owner stating the year it was made (in the 70’s) and that the picture was hand drawn in pencil. The artist has great talent!

Let me show you how I turned this rustic picture frame into a farmhouse wreath frame.

Farmhouse Wreath Frame DIY

Step 1

First of all, I bought this contact paper at Walmart, but I’m not entirely happy with it. I wanted more of a wooden look. Other than white, this was the only plain color they had. I will look online for the wooden look contact paper later on.

I took the cardboard backing off of the frame and measured it on the backside of the contact paper, then cut it to fit.

Step 2

I attached it to the cardboard. It was easy to do since it is peel and stick.

Step 3

I put the cardboard back onto the frame. I taped it on because I threw the little metal pieces away that were holding it together to begin with.

This is what it looks like from the front all put back together.

I hung the farmhouse wreath that I made here on the front of my new frame.

The wreath looks great on my accent wall in the living room.

I also decided to replace the wreaths inside the tobacco baskets with these cute little signs I found at Dollar Tree. I didn’t really want that many wreaths on one wall.

That’s it for the farmhouse wreath frame! Super simple and totally cute!

Do you only hang your wreaths on the door or do you hang some inside, too?
